Where I began
I started taking photos on my Moto X 2nd generation in 2014. That phone opened up my world from pen and paper to digital photos and social media like VSCO.
Using that phone I walked through life with the opportunity to capture every beautiful thing I saw. I couldn’t think of anything I wanted more than that, but I always considered myself an amateur. Taking photos that way allowed me to train my eye, my brain, and my skills. I found out I had limitations so I found workarounds. VSCO and the Google editing app Snapseed were my favorite tools to turn a plain phone photo into something beautiful. It was a journey for me and I traveled far and fast from pure mediocrity to some photos that I am still proud of today.
With illustration and paint you have to set up your station, set aside hours, and keep a consistent focus on your subject. With photography, I was able to condense my artistic setup into almost a single second. I still love drawing, but I’ve been able to focus on my art and travel with photography in a way no other medium can provide.
